Why System Equine installation

We install what we sell. We’ve done it for 39 years.

When you hire System Equine to install your fence, you are working with one of the most experienced equine and farm fencing companies in Canada — not a general contractor learning the trade on your property. Our installation teams live and breathe fencing.

01
Professional post-pounding precision

We pound posts with professional skid steer and specialized equipment. Consistent depth, plumb alignment, and maximum soil compaction mean a fence line that holds through Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles for decades.

02
Animal welfare drives every decision

Every installation choice — fence height, rail spacing, post depth, hardware selection — is made with your horses and livestock in mind. We understand how animals interact with fencing. This is all we do.

03
Supply and install — one company

We manufacture and supply the products we install. No middlemen, no mismatched materials. Your fencing — Flex, PVC, board, iron, chain link, wire, or hardware — comes from System Equine’s own inventory. Consistency and warranty integrity, guaranteed.

04
Built to last from day one

Our original 1987 Flex Fence installations are still standing with horses grazing within them. That is not luck. It is the result of installing every job as if it needs to last 40 years — because it does.

05
Every property type and scale

From a single backyard paddock to a 1,000-acre operation, a luxury estate, a boarding facility, or a commercial fairground — our crews are equipped and experienced for projects at every scale across Ontario.

06
Multiple dedicated installation crews

Multiple experienced crews operate across Southern and Central Ontario from our facilities in Rockwood and Drumbo. Scheduling flexibility, faster completion on large projects, and the capacity to serve more customers across a wider region.

Fence types we install

Every major equine, farm, estate & commercial fence system.

We install the complete System Equine product line — every fence type sourced from our own inventory, installed by our own trained crews, backed by the manufacturer warranty. One company, start to finish.

Flex Fence is the gold standard for horse containment across Ontario. High-tensile galvanized wire bonded in a durable polymer rail — highly visible, flexible on impact rather than splintering, virtually maintenance-free, and backed by a Lifetime Limited Warranty on the 5.25″ Plus rail. Our original 1987 installations are still in service today.

  • 4.25″ Flex Fence — 30-Year Limited Warranty (white, black, or brown)
  • 5.25″ Plus Flex Fence — Lifetime Limited Warranty
  • Combo systems — Flex rail with integrated Shockline electric
  • Braid and tape options for lighter containment applications
  • Professional post pounding and bracket hardware installation

PERIMETER • BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT • ADD-ON SYSTEMS

Electric & Shockline installation

Electric fencing — including Shockline coated wire and tape systems — is an effective perimeter and behaviour management solution. We install standalone electric systems and add-on configurations that pair an electric rail with an existing Flex, wire, or board fence to stop horses from leaning, reaching, or testing the fence.

  • Shockline electric coated wire — matches Flex Fence in appearance
  • Electric tape top-rail and bottom-rail add-on systems
  • Multi-strand rotational grazing and pasture management setups
  • Energizer selection, installation, and grounding
  • Add-on rails to stop reaching under or over existing fences
PADDOCKS • CORRALS • STALLION PADDOCKS • SHOW RINGS

Board fence installation

Board fencing is a proven, high-strength option for general horse paddocks, corrals, stallion paddocks, show and sale rings, and high-pressure containment areas. We install premium materials to a demanding standard — boards staggered for maximum strength on 6″ cedar posts set at 8’ centres, driven plumb.

  • White oak boards — premium hardwood with excellent durability
  • Ash boards — strong hardwood, excellent for high-pressure areas
  • Pressure-treated 2×6 boards — outstanding longevity and strength
  • 6″ cedar posts, pounded plumb at 8’ on centre
  • Boards staggered at every post for maximum rail strength
  • 3 and 4-rail configurations; compatible with paint or stain

PVC post & rail installation

PVC post and rail delivers the clean, classic board-fence look with zero painting, staining, or rot. Hollow 5″×5″ posts with 16-foot rails spanning 3 posts create a sophisticated perimeter for riding rings, driveway entrances, estate boundaries, and paddocks. Pairs with electric strands for horse pasture containment.

  • Rigid white or light-colour rail — lifetime manufacturer warranty
  • 2, 3, and 4-rail configurations
  • Posts plumb and aligned at 8’ on centre
  • Combine with electric strands for horse pasture applications
  • Pairs beautifully with driveway and estate gate installations
SAFE • VERSATILE • MULTI-SPECIES

Wire mesh fence installation

Wire mesh is one of the safest fencing options for horses and a wide range of livestock — especially when combined with a hardwood, Flex, or electric tape topline for visibility. Available in multiple configurations for different animal species and containment requirements.

  • Fixed-knot and woven wire — cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas
  • No-climb horse fence — horses – prevents hoof and leg entanglement
  • Square Deal farm fence — horses and dogs versatile multi-species option
  • High tensile wire — economical for large perimeter runs – not recommended for horses
  • Hardwood, Flex, or electric topline combination systems
COMMERCIAL • ESTATE PERIMETER • AGRICULTURAL SECURITY

Chain link fence installation

Chain link is a proven, low-maintenance choice for commercial operations, large agricultural facilities, property perimeters, and estate security boundaries. We install agricultural and commercial-grade chain link with correct post sizing and professional tensioning.

  • Agricultural and commercial-grade galvanized chain link
  • Vinyl-coated options for estate and prestige applications
  • Suitable for horses, cattle, dogs, and property perimeter security
  • Fairgrounds, exhibition centres, boarding facilities, commercial sites
  • Gates and access panels integrated into the system
ESTATES • PRESTIGE PROPERTIES • DRIVEWAYS

Modular iron fence installation

Modular iron fencing is the choice for estate and prestige properties where appearance, permanence, and property value are the priority. Installed to match our driveway gate systems, modular iron creates a cohesive, high-end entrance and perimeter aesthetic that defines the finest equestrian and rural estate properties in Ontario.

  • Ornamental and modular iron panel systems
  • Installed to coordinate directly with System Equine driveway gates
  • Ideal for estate driveways, entrance features, and paddock borders
  • Durable powder-coated finish for long-term weather resistance
  • Custom heights and configurations available

Gate & driveway gate installation

A fence is only as functional as its gates. System Fencing’s gate division supplies and installs the complete range — from paddock and laneway gates to automated estate driveway gates that match your modular iron or ornamental fencing.

  • Economy mesh, bar gate, and tube gate — paddock and farm use

How it works

From first call to final post — here is exactly what happens.

We keep the process clear and straightforward from the first conversation to the day our crew leaves your property. No confusion, no surprises — just a professional process built on 39 years of experience.

01
Talk to our dedicated sales team

Call or email one of our dedicated fencing sales staff. We talk through your project with you, pull up our online planning tools, and draw and measure your property on screen. From that conversation we can give you a clear rough idea of cost — often before anyone visits your property.

02
On-site visit as requested

For larger or more complex projects, we come to site and walk the areas to be fenced. We review your options, discuss ideas and configurations, assess terrain and ground conditions, and confirm the best fence system for each zone on your property.

03
Detailed written quote with drawings

You receive a clear, itemized written quote with fence layout drawings attached — materials, labour, and scope separated so you understand exactly what you are buying. No surprises, no estimates that grow after approval.

04
Book the job & prepare materials

Once approved, we book your installation and schedule your crew. We allow 1–2 weeks of flexibility for weather and ground conditions — Ontario seasons demand it and we plan for it. All materials are sourced directly from System Equine’s own inventory and prepared for your installation.

05
Professional installation

Our crews arrive with up-to-date equipment and years of hands-on experience. Posts go in plumb and at consistent depth using professional post-pounding equipment. Rails, brackets, tensioners, and hardware are installed to manufacturer specification — every post, every rail, every time.

06
Site walkthrough & handoff

We walk the completed installation with you before we leave. Any adjustments are made on the spot. You receive product care guidance and know exactly what to watch through the first season as the ground settles. We stand behind the work.

“Back in 1987 we started installing fences using the Centaur Flexible Fencing System. We chose the product for its outstanding durability, and in fact most of our original installations are still fully functional with horses grazing happily within them.”

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often from Ontario horse farmers, ranch and estate owners, and commercial property managers.

1. What is the best fencing for horses in Ontario?

For most Ontario horse properties, Flex Fence is the leading choice — high-tensile galvanized wire in a durable polymer rail that flexes on impact, is highly visible, and requires virtually no maintenance. The 5.25″ Plus carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty. PVC is preferred for riding rings, driveways, and estate perimeters. Board fencing using white oak, ash, or pressure-treated 2x6 on 6″ cedar posts at 8’ centres is best for stallion paddocks, corrals, and high-pressure areas. We help you choose the right system for each zone.

2. What board fencing materials do you use?

We install board fencing with white oak boards, ash boards, or pressure-treated 2x6 lumber. All board fence installations use 6″ cedar posts pounded plumb at 8’ on centre, with boards staggered at every post for maximum rail strength. Board fencing is suitable for general horse paddocks, stallion areas, corrals, show and sale rings, and any high-pressure containment zone.

3. What animals do you install fencing for?

We install fencing for horses, cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas, llamas, donkeys, mules, deer, elk, bison, pigs, dogs, ponies, miniature horses, and other specialty and exotic species. Fence type, height, mesh opening, and electrification are matched specifically to the animals being contained or excluded on each part of your property.

4. Do you install commercial and large-scale fencing?

Yes. System Equine installs fencing for equestrian centres, boarding facilities, fairgrounds, agricultural exhibitions, and large commercial livestock operations. Multiple installation crews allow us to deploy the manpower needed for large, time-sensitive commercial projects without compromising the quality of the result.

5. Why do you pound posts instead of augering?

Post pounding compacts the soil around the post as it drives in — augering removes material and leaves a looser fit. Pounded posts are tighter, more stable, and significantly more resistant to Ontario’s frost heaving cycles. The process is also faster, which reduces your total installation time and cost without any compromise in result quality.

6. Do you supply all the fencing materials?

Yes. All materials — posts, rails, brackets, tensioners, mesh, wire, hardware, and gates — are sourced from System Equine’s own inventory. One company supplies and installs everything, giving complete quality control and ensuring all manufacturer warranties remain fully intact.

7. Do you install driveway and automated gates?

Yes. Our gate division installs farm paddock gates, estate driveway gates, and automated swing and slide gate systems using LiftMaster and Nice operators. Modular iron and ornamental gates are available to match your fence aesthetic. Intercom and keypad access systems are also available.

8. Can I mix different fence types on one property?

Absolutely — and it is often the best approach. A well-planned property might use Flex Fence for open paddock perimeters, board fencing for stallion and high-pressure areas, PVC for the riding ring and driveway, wire mesh for sheep and goats, modular iron with automated gates at the entrance, and chain link for security perimeters. We plan a multi-zone fencing design as part of your quote.

9. How long does a fence installation take?

A standard paddock installation is often completed in one to two days. Larger farm or estate perimeters can take several days to a week or more depending on scale, terrain, and fence type. We build a timeline into your quote and allow 1–2 weeks of scheduling flexibility for weather and ground conditions.

10. What if my property has challenging terrain?

Our crews are experienced with grades, rock outcroppings, drainage swales, wet areas, and variable soil conditions across Ontario. We assess terrain during our site visit or discuss it on the first call using our online planning tools. All terrain factors are accounted for in your quote — no surprises on installation day.
