Plan Your Horse Stall

Help Center for Stalls:
Whether you have one horse or a large facility, you will need to have strong durable stalls.
We have put together these questions to simplify this process.
Do you have supports in your barn?
The type (wood type or steel I-beam), size, and spacing. Cedar beams have an odor that
may cause a horse to chew them, for this we would suggest post edging. Shielding the
beam with edging will prevent chewing.
Will your stalls need backs, sides, or window grills?
Will the neighboring horses be socially compatible, need more or less ventilation, more or
less light?
Will this stall need extra ventilation in the warmer months?
Consider a stall with the option of a door with a grill on the top & on the bottom.
Is adding feed & water with the horse still in the stall troublesome or hazardous?
There are automatic waterers and swing out feed doors options available.
How many of each stall type will you need?
We can manufacture a stall front to fit any opening. Standard sizes are 10' and 12' fronts
and stall partitions. Take the overall length and width of your barn and subtract out feed
areas, aisle ways, wash stalls, and feed rooms then divide that number by the number of
stalls you want to have and this will give you the size of your stall fronts. Remember to
include solid doors for feed and tack rooms.
Is the flooring of the barn solid concrete?
You may want to consider solid rubber stall mats. They can reduce the joint cartilage
damage associated with standing on a solid surface. Stall mats also make cleaning most
stalls easier. Wash mats also available.
