1. Number of horses that will be in the pasture, Mares? Geldings? Foals? Yearlings? Stallions?

3. How many gate areas will you need? It is better to include any that you are thinking about, instead of trying to add them later after installation.

4. What is your soil like? Do you have hills? Standing water, sand, rock, shale, or something other than a normal soil content?

5. What else will you want to fence off in the future?

6. Determine a budget for your fencing installation. Our knowledgeable sales staff can calculate the best fencing for your situation or budget. Remember the difference between a good fence and a bad fence is usually one vet bill. Think long term with regards to maintenance and safety when choosing your fence.

7. High traffic areas? Abusive horses? We always recommend electric. It will protect your investment in your fence, and moreover, your horse!

8. Most horses are in pasture 50% - 100% of the time. A mature horse weighs between 1200-1800 lbs. and at some point will contact your fence. Think about the positioning and make your pasture as safe as you can. Choose a fence that is made for horses!
